I've been on Tamoxifen for over 5 years now and was tolerating it well overall, just some night sweats at times. But a few weeks ago I developed some chest pain and went to ER. Sure enough I was diagnosed with Pulmonary Embolism (PE) with multiple blood clots in both of my lungs. My onco stopped the Tamoxifen immediately and I am on blood thinners now. I am on arimadex... so far so good. If you have a thyroid diagnosis going into all of this make sure to check it out after radiation. Mine got very low and my face swelled up huge and I have a lot of fluid build up... they are working on getting it back to normal now. Extreme fatigue going on here...
Was on Tamoxifen for 2 years. Developed shortness of breath due to multiple blood clots in both lungs, one in my leg — all due to Tamoxifen. No other symptoms so very hard to diagnose until I had chest scan with contrast. On warfarin now (Coumadin) and will have to be on it for one year. I have decided not to take aromatase inhibitors. No more drugs and my breast cancer was small and Stage 1. Yikes!!
Glad you went to the ER and got checked out. Im definitely gonna pay attention although I 've only been on tamoxifen close to 7 months. Hope you're doing well.
