I am in treatment right now and I have one chemo round left. Im doing the TC cocktail. (taxotare?) I had my head shaved last month and now I wear a pretty nice wig but I find myself having little panic attacks when I look at my bald head. When does hair growth start? Is it totally after chemo is done or is it able to sprout some peach fuzz during? I am grateful that I am able to tolerate the chemo so well, but I will be honest that I do have a fear that my hair won't grow back. I see on Facebook… read more

Stef, I was not responding to your post. I know that you were just worrying and asking questions, which is what this site is for. My reaction was to some of the responses you got, which were telling you not to believe the stories of permanent hair loss. People need to know that these stories are true. As I went to the link that KarenZarabi posted, I see that there are a number of us on this site suffering from this, including JoAnnSurvivor. I also see that the majority of Taxotere patients seem to get their hair back, but it's important to realize that isn't always the case. It's important not only for people like me, but also to forewarn women who may be trying to decide whether or not to take Taxotere. I wish I had known about this risk beforehand. And I'm sorry, I did not mean to offend you. My comments were not directed towards you. I just want to get the information out there, and was hurt by some of the responses.

well, I think one can just speak of their own experience and I looked back on my posts and I don't think I was speaking for anyone-just me. I think when I was reaching out, I as looking for anyone to speak from their positive experience. That's what I needed to hear and I appreciated the input. I do realize that women have permanent hair loss and permanent fatigue and permanent bone pain and permanent trauma from breast cancer..I am not making light of it. I was just looking for any positive experience so I can get through the next day...and that's about it.

The T in TC is Taxol, not Taxotore. I double checked that when i saw the lausuits. Anyway, I started getting "peachfuzz" hair about 3-4 weeks after chemo. I was so excited!

I'm in the taxotere suit. Im not bald but you can see my scalp and I had wonderfully thick wavy hair. Take lots of pictures just in case. Lawyers ask for them plus a visit to a dermatologist for him to diagnose alopecia. My hair is baby fine and doesnt hold a curl. Im still wearing wigs and its 3 yrs. ALSO FEMARA or any hormone blocker will cause havoc on your hair. they want you to take it for a minimum of 5 yrs.

You are welcome, I'm here anytime, ask anything. Someone gave me the most beautiful Pink Bible after I was diagnosed. It has the most wonderful testimonies in there from precious Christian women as they talked about their experiences. It was such a blessing to me. One of the ladies talked about being in the world of "the bald and the breastless" I had to laugh! It is so great you only have one to go!!!!! I will have my last Herceptin treatment THIS FRIDAY!!! The last year has seemed so long! Prayers!!!
