Has anyone ever found a LUMP and went and had a biopsey after the man no and had been told it was Inconclusive and needed a surgical tissue sample. ??And what was your results and if so any bloody discharge.
Tricia - I had a core needle biopsy that came back benign. It was the follow up mammo film that showed two suspicious masses. At that point I was referred to a specialist who had everything looked at again. The recommendation was a stereotactic biopsy which reflected malignancy of the tumors. The MRI and PET scan reflected all of the masses were malignant, even the ones that tested benign originally. Get a second opinion!
That is called a wire-directed or a wire-assisted lumpectomy. I read over your post twice to make sure everything seems correct since I also had a wire-assisted lumpectomy .It was on my right breast at the 11 o'clock hour.
Everything you wrote is correct regarding the procedure.
@A MyBCTeam Member I was told today no alieve Tylenol or Advil because of bleeding. I am gonna call her back tomarow to make sure I can take my synthroid and blood pressure pills. She's more concerned about me getting rid of this bronchitis and so am I . I haven't been this sick in years. I'm sure stress is not helping and my coworkers passed it to me. I did not know what to expect and didn't know that this site was available so maybe my ignorance was in my favor.
First of all,I prefer to be awake and not drugged out since I am highly allergic and more afraid of reactions than the procedure.
I was given a local at the site in order to numb the area.The interventional radiologist and 2 nurses or nurse assistants wheeled me to the ultrasound machine.
Once the site was numb she inserted the wire.I was not allowed to look at the needle or the screen b/c they knew I had knowledge of what I was seeing.They turned the screen and blocked it so I really don't know if the wire was attached to my clip or just placed as close to the tumor as possible.
The wire was secured with tape and covered with a 7oz plastic cup .I guess that was to protect it from falling out or from me pulling it out.Neither happened.
The process was very quick.only a couple of mins.However,the radiologist kept everyone waiting b/c she went to the wrong part of the hospital (she went to the hospital's annex in another town)Let's just say I wasn't a happy camper to begin with and it made me worse crazy. My nerves were definitely in overdrive and being awake was not a problem.
I would probably take an Aleve or 2 prior to the procedure. I found out about Aleve though my b surgeon who suggests using it prior to any test or procedure and I have followed his recommendations for sonos,mammos,mri etc.

Ok I didn't have the steriotistic biopsey they did that one when I had calcification this time I had core needle biopsey. From what my radiologist told me it depends on where its located and what they are biopsey to design what type of biopsey you will have because like you said one is on tour stomach I was on my back and was guided by @A MyBCTeam Member
