My Lymphedemia OT told me I need to wear a sleeve and glove when lifting weights or any intense exercise. she also said to wear it while travelling. My ONC wrote the Rx and sent it into DrugMart. They called me to set up an appointment to be measured and mentioned Medicare does not cover the sleeve or glove. She said the sleeve was over $100. She suggested a gauntlet instead and a sleeve. I know I need the sleeve but is the glove necessary?

I ordered my sleeve online & it was MUCH cheaper. My insurance did not cover the sleeve, but they did pay for physical therapy to teach me to manage my lymphedema myself. You have your measurements and know what is recommended for you you can go online and order exactly the same thing for way cheaper. I do the same thing for my mastectomy bras. Once I was fitted with a style I like, I just order them myself and save a ton!

Check AMAZON - that's where I got mine and I didn't pay over $25

I have a glove but don't wear it cuz it interferes with my job. I wash my hands a lot & taking it on/off every single time became too much. I do wear the sleeve though

Unless you're wearing it 24/7 I would expect you could get more mileage out of your sleeve than 3 months. They're pretty darn durable in my experience.

Talking about billing--I know this is a little off topic. Had to call the insurance company for the second time. My out of pocket is $1500.00. So why, for the second time, would you send me an explanation of benefits that says with this statement my out of pocket would be $1550.00. A number is a number and not objective. I suggested they get a computer program that flags stupid stuff like this and was told a person does the out of pocket limit. I told her they needed a new person who knew the difference in more or less than $1500.00. ugh billing.
