In about two weeks, I'm having my expanders swapped for the permanent implants. I'd like recommendations for what I should buy to be ready for after surgery. (Scar creams, wraps, lotions, name brand headphones so I don't hear my own sobs!) I'm thinking ANYTHING and EVERYTHING you can think of! Lol. I'm so nervous and excited at the same time.

They are much softer than the expanders, those things were awful, like bricks! The silicone implants feel firm, but soft if that makes sense. It was a huge relief to get the expanders out, they were so uncomfortable. Now, my foobs are much more natural feeling, they are sooo much more comfortable. I am currently using mederma as advised by my tattoo artist to get my scars healing quicker and more completely. The scars are a year old and not quite ready for tattoos,according to her. I did not have drains after the swap, so it was so much easier and better than the initial surgery and the pain was nothing, really. You will be so happy with the foobs, a million times better than expanders. GOOD LUCK!! Don't worry!
Hi @A MyBCTeam Member. I had fat transfer after expanders were taken out and implants put in. Oh I know those damn expanders are awful. They should look odd. Remember they are football shaped. Their sole purpose is to create a pocket for your implants.Talk to your ps. Tell him what you want. My ps, whom I love, wanted to continue to fill. Nope! I felt I had had enough. He respected my decision and did an amazing job. Hang in there girl! Xxxooo Leanne
I just had my surgery about a month ago. I was so nervous and anxious! But the good news is, it is NOTHING like the mastectomy. I only took pain meds for 2 days and then was on ibuprofen for 3 days. Im a baby when it comes to pain and it was totally manageable. I did have drains but they were super small and didn't hurt coming out. I didn't like the way my foobs felt or looked at first. I went small so I didn't look any different but they looked like tennis balls! ugh...Luckily that only lasted a couple weeks and then things settled down and they look fine. I had silicone implants under the muscle. Something funny ive noticed, when I flex my pectoral muscle my implants move. lol Good luck!!!
Oh I know. It's hard to be happy with them while waiting for the swelling to dissipate.
@A MyBCTeam Member, yes; dancing foobs are a part of the package with recon by implants. 😉
