So I have my last chemo treatment coming up and then surgery. I will still be on Herceptin for a while and the. Some sort of pills for ten years. My question is has anyone tried weight watchers to get back to a healthy weight after chemo and surgery? Did it work?
Slimming world is better I lost 4 stone when I went but put it on with the chemo plan to go back after chemo
Weight watchers is a good plan because you can eat fruit and vegetables plus lean meats like chicken and even some beef...the points limit but totally don't exclude some sweets . I lost twenty pounds during chemo...just was not hungry. But after all the treatments done I started feeling good and got hungry. I gained back 15 pounds...now trying to diet. :(
I "quit" weight watchers when I was diagnosed with cancer because I knew it would make me crazy to see gains during treatment. I plan to go back after surgery and radiation when I settle into my new normal.
I think it is great that you are making a plan to take care of yourself!!
I think now that we have fought this beast called cancer, we owe it to ourselves to be healthy and strong.
I met with a nutritionist during treatments, and made a conscious effort to make better food choices during during treatments and still continue with that (lots of fruits and veggies). I also think its important to move our bodies--walking, swimming, zumba, whatever it might be.
Although I haven't specifically followed the Weight Watchers program, I know it is a good plan to follow! You could run it past your ONC and surgeon, if you want. But I believe their suggestion would be similar to those that Weight Watchers follows.
Proud of you!

My orginal plan was to really watch my founds during chemo but something I can't hold down as well then there has been plenty of time I was told to stay away from fruits and veggies because they were scared with blood counts of me getting ecoli so now I am wanting and after plan to get healthier.
