I would go for a second or even third opinion, I don't know what type of chemo they wanted to give you , it never to late to get chemo , relax and do some research , It so overwhelming at first but chemo isn't like it was 30 years ago and I was only able to handle 4 treatments and my doctor stopped it and then herceptin for a year and also radiation , my mother in law works for a doctor and he believe in chemo to get that one cell that might have got away , 💕🎀

Ty for being so real .I am opting out of chemo. I'm putting my faith in my PS to do the switch and cut whatever remains . It's all dcis they say so I'm not doing chemo. I will beat it but my way not theirs. With diet rest and and the good lords blessing I plan to live till at least 85. Lol ty for all u have contributed girls. It's a pretty scary road at first then if you are anything like me you get mad and realize you can have the cancer or the cancer can have you! Much love to all! Happy 4th of July.

I'm just a little confused that with your original invasive component chemo wasn't already indicated.
DCIS with positive margins, to my lay-person's mind, would indicate radiation. If ask my Onco for a clear description, not only WHY she recommends chemo going forward, but qualification for all previous recommendations to this point. I suspect the way to feeling right about her future recommendations is to get right with her past deductions.

Hi Kelly, Listen to your doctors recommendation or another doctor's second opinion could be helpful in this decision making, especially since it's all so overwhelming. If Chemo is recommended why not reduce your chances of your cancer getting worse or metastasizing? You have cancer, not a cold. Diet and rest may not be enough. Of course your blessing will help immensely. Chemo is a treatment and bearable. Please don't be afraid of it to the point of not doing it, if its needed. It sucks, but it's bearable. It may be a frustrating and uncomfortable 6-months of treatment, but then it's done and you can get on with a healthy life. As they say... "It's better than the alternative" Hopefully, once things calm down in your life (those tests and scans are so overwhelming) you can revisit your options. Wishing you health and a very long life <3. I think the chemo is for the stage II and the rads are for the DCIS. I am wondering if you could just have the chemo and not do rads. I has IDC stage II with 2 nodes out of 7+ and DCIS is both breast. I had the Oncodx test done and it showed my score being 12 on a scale of 0-100. I believe that anything over 20 meant chemo would help with less % of reoccurance. I decided not to have chemo or rads, that was 6 years ago and I have not had a reoccurance. I take Tamoxifen and right now am only taking it 3 days a week. I can't handle the sweats and I am also on a pain med for Fibro that causes hot flashes!!! I am not telling you what to do I am just giving you what went on with me. I have had many, many things happen since I had BC, I didn't have any health issues before BC :(
