I had drain tubes on both sides after my double mastectomy 3/25/16. I've been having arm pain on the side i had 3 nodes removed and have been to physical therapy twice. The first time was just kind of an evaluation today they actually rubbed around under my arm area when she hit the area of my drain site I nearly screamed it burned so bad. Its healed up fine and she said it was nerve pain and is probably causing my arm pain. Is this going to go away? Has anyone experienced this? Thank you.
I had "stingning" for a long time....but it will slowly dissipate. My Drain hole scars were the longest part of healing for me. I had BMX Nov/14 and EX Mar/15 and YESTERDAY exchanged my implants again for a diff kind because I was flipping them! No drains now. The drain scars/nerves finally reconnect and stopped giving me issues 6 mon post op. Feel better. It gets better w time. I used to walk on the treadmill at the gym and take my hand or knuckle and rub the crap out of them :) The drain area scars...not my foobs ha
Nerve pain stinks. I have had it for eight years.
Go to a very good physical therapist that specializes in breast cancer and you will get relief. What you are experiencing may be lyphedema and lymphatic drainage may be required.
Light massage only. Never, never, never deep tissue massage. Be well, Liz
I thought my pain would never go away, but it does. It probably took me years. I am five years out and no pain at all.
I've had mastectomies and two reconstruction surgeries. I have not had your exact problem, but I did have strange sensations after all three, including numbness, pinching, pulling, pressure, burning... at different times. My weird sensations got better over time, but skin sensation is still abnormal, sort of numb.
Also I am seeing three wonderful ladies at physical therapy that specialize in these issues I just have to be patient!
