Anyone here deal with 2 different types of cancers at the same time? I have IDC and DCIS, one is HER2+ and one is HER2- Anyone have this situation?
My mom had DCIS and LCIS so it is possible to have 2 at the same time. My surgeon did tell me when I had my mastectomies that pathology could show different Her2 status could be different in the tumors and the areas of DCIS, even though my initial biopsy was Her2 neg. Best of luck. Cancer is so unbelievably annoying!
Although now that I read it again, it looks like sample A was invasive ductal/lobular, so maybe that's why they only tested 1? The other is Invasive Ductal only...
Well, so much for my sunny day scenario. I also have 2 different types of cancer. Invasive Ductal and Invasive Lobular. The pathology came back as ER+ PR+ HER2-, but they only tested the Invasive Lobular. My doctor was supposed to put in the order to test the other sample that's Invasive Ductal, but that didn't happen. I started to think maybe they only test the more aggressive form of cancer... but clearly that's not correct based on the fact that they could be different.
I had same thing. They found both of mine one the left breast. The DCIS was found when trying to get clear margins. They did not find the DCIS with all the tests. I had a double mastectomy when they found the DCIS. Hope things turn out good for you.
I had triple negative with DCIS
