I had reconstruction only on the right side. My surgeon said if I change my mind and want reconstruction on the other one the law says that I can.

There is a federal law, passed by Bill Clinton of all people. It is very specific, they have to make it right, they can only charge the same as any other surgery. If you have a dollar amount copay that's all they can charge. If you pay a percentage, it must be the same percentage.

On September 17th, 2014, I had a right mastectomy with reconstructive surgery all at one time. I was in surgery for 14 hours because they found quite a few of hernias in my stomach. I used my stomach fat in the first surgery, my second surgery was a reconstruction to smooth out the fat and to do a fill in but they couldn't find anymore fat. My appointment yesterday, I was told that my body is absorbing the fat and now we are discussing a silicone implant for the right side. This is truly a journey and I'm tired. Please pray for me and I hope that this will be the last time.

It is a federal law that was passed, I believe by Pres. Carter but don't quote me on that one. You are entitled to reconstruction so that you look even.
I also had a mystectomy on the right side. I just finished reconstruction, my last surgery was seven days ago. Yes it was painful, yes it was worth it!!!

please check you state laws. I know in NJ its illegal to deny reconstruction so women are covered. They even cover the tattooing.
