I went kayaking 11 days post exchange. It was a breeze honestly! I used maderma on my scars. They faded in about 2-3 years. Good luck!

How exciting Danielle! It is such a treat to get rid of those expanders. Happy day. I used Bio-Oil on my scars. I recovered pretty quick. Much easier surgery than the BMX. I was restricted to not lifting over 10 lbs for a couple weeks but generally felt pretty good. Only took pain pills for a couple days. Good luck to you. You'll be surprised at how easy the exchange surgery goes. Getting those nasty expanders out and implants put in was like having a weight lifted off of my chest. Literally. I used bio oil as well. That stuff is wonderful! Coconut oil or vitamin E oil would also work great. The pain is very minimal. Best of wishes! You'll do great! Hugs!

I'm in agony right now from the "awful rocks" (perfect description!). I'm sure, as others have said, that it will be a much better recovery that the BMX and tissue expanders. All of my skin was saved so the expanders are filled to the brim so all the skin will be used. I can't wait for the day, after chemo, that I can have the exchange surgery. Congratulations :-)

It was so much easier than double mastectomy. After a week or two it was feeling good! It was shocking how soft they felt compared to those hard expanders! You are so wise to plan ahead! I hope your surgery goes very smoothly! It is so exciting! Only a few days from now!:)
