I work with my medical oncologist for most things. I use my PCP for the normal things that afflicted me before cancer! It's hard to distinguish sometimes which is which! Good luck.

I scheduled myself to see several plastic surgeons to get an idea about what they could do. And then i made the decision. I do not know the extent of your lumpectomy but i know that sometimes fat autografting is now used in that situation. They Lipo fat from your belly and spin it and take the fat cells and inject it in the breast. I plan to have it done once my implant has settled in place to make my breast larger, softer and more natural looking. Ask if that is an option for you. Suzanne Somers had it done years after radiation and lumpectomy.

Speak with your breast surgeon (or better, plastic surgeon) regarding reconstruction. Speak with your oncologist regarding anything medical...but your oncologist will know about pretty much anything. Do you have a nurse navigator at the facility you go to? The nurse is there to "navigate" you to the right person and answer any general questions.

My breast surgeon was let go of the center where I had it done (their loss) and she is to start a new practice here in my town, closer to me. So when she gets back in business, I will probably go through her as well. It is so confusing sometimes....

My treatment was different, my breast surgeon's office coordinated all my other doctors/appts. I met with a plastic surgeon before my mastectomy, and saw him more frequently than my breast surgeon at first. I still do follow-ups with breast surgeon, every 3-4 months, for 2 years- I am almost at the 2 year mark. I would suggest calling your breast surgeon's office to start.
