It was a hard surgery and hard recovery. It was my seventh surgery in 3 years so it may have been harder on me. I was off 5 weeks and worked part time for a few more weeks. It was harder to get up and down than when i had the mastectomy. I slept in my recliner for seviral weeks. My husband put a long pcv pipe over the handle and tied a rope to it to make it easier to lift the chair up and down. I had tables on both sides with every thing I needed in arms reach. I wound recommend physical therapy for range of motion. I had some or ding the first and it really helped.

Had the surgery on 2/6. I'n doing great. Off all pain meds in 48 hrs. No back spasms or range of motion problems. I was expecting much worse. So happy I' m able to go out and resume my life. Still have 2 drains but they will come out on 2/24. Glad its behind me.

How long did you stay on prescription pain meds?

@A MyBCTeam Member, you had the LD done bilateral? Im contemplating just the effected one. Right has implant so should be a close match. I do lots of reaching and lifting at my job.

My bilateral mastectomy wasn't that bad. Is the latissimus flap a lot worse? I live alone and really won't have a lot of help. Please advise. The doctor said I would only spend 1 night.
