Had a friend (a wife of my husband's friend from work) pass away last night from cancer she has been battling for 2 years. She had no idea I was diagnosed until she saw me at the plastic surgeon office. All I can think about was how she came bouncing in bald and beautiful but all I saw was her huge smile. She saw me and probably thought I was getting a boob job until she realized we were there for the same reason. When she was admitted to the hospital that I work at her husband would tell me to… read more
I don't know her but I can see from you're post that you are a wonderful person. You made a choice that was best for you at the time. Don't feel guilty. When you have cancer it is all about survival. You did what you needed to. I always feel guilty about having cancer because of the burden on my family. I just walk around saying I am so sorry I can't do more. Sometimes in life people can't find the perfect words. Everyone understands you were going through a lot and you don't need to feel bad about that. Try to write down the thoughts you now have for her and dispose of them in a bon fire or such. This can be a passage to a new guilt free thinking process. Remember her in happy thoughts and move forward in peace.
We all do the absolute best we can in any given situation. Going through this journey is tough on every level. Please be kind to yourself. Hugs!
Cancer is hard and I can understand why you had a tough time dealing with someone else who is metastatic and late stage while you were in the middle of it yourself - it's a bit too close to home. Let it go, you're a good person and you just needed to be focused on yourself at the time. Don't feel guilty, you will get through all of your own treatments and then you'll be stronger and maybe one day in the future you'll be there for someone else going through the same thing. Hugs.
I agree with HolliB be kind to yourself. I think when you are on a cancer journey everything depend on your outlook of life, negative or positive.
I can't stand to sit in the waiting area when I see my MO...the sick patients make me feel scared, sad and guilty. They let me wait outside and text me when I can go straight to an exam room
