Husband got laid off, right before I started chemo. Have been paying for cobra, but can't afford it any more. Just wondering what type would be good to try and do.
I was approved for disability, first time, yay! It took about 3weeks but you have to be diagnosed for 5 months to be eligible, I applied at 4 months so mine will start next month...IDC is listed as per approved disability, so just a matter of filling out paperwork. Thank you to those who have gone before us to get BC listed on the short list of approval for disability. Saved me a lot more heartache n trouble!
I had no medical insurance when I was diagnosed Sept. 2013, it worked out for the best, as there is a federal program that covers 100% if you have no insurance. I have not even had a co-pay!, So blessed! It is called BCTPP. I have 18 months of coverage. I was told it is specifically for women who have BC or cervical cancer. What state are you in?
I think there is a site called FundMe. Google that.
Best of luck to you! I can't even imagine the stress all of this is causing you! Take Care!!!
@A MyBCTeam Member are you doing any better? Just read this and boy, have you really been put through it! Enough challenging stuff to last a lifetime, let alone all coming at once,
Hope life gives you a break and some hope soon!
Prayers for you~
And cheers! \o/.
Welcome, hope something in my experience helps you! Do you have a pet?? Someone to keep me company is my daily highlight, Leo, my sweet dog has been by my side the entire time, could not have done this without him!!
If you are out of work, you can talk to patient billing regarding programs to help pay medical costs. Side note, I didn't need chemo or radiation, only surgical intervention. My last breast surgery was March 2013 and total medical costs 1/2 million dollars.
