Hi lovely ladies -'I hope everyone is having a good night
I am wondering if any of you can enlighten me on this crazy weight gain. I am a full 10 months out post chemo/radiation treatment and have no need for tamoxifan or other drugs due to my triple negative diagnosis. Besides being pregnant with my kids, I have always maintained a normal healthy weight. At the end of last summer (3 months post treatment), I noticed very rapid weight gain. I thought my body was just adjusting to things, but… read more

Funny, I went thru rads (7 yrs ago) and [[treatment:tamoxifen:540f562a[[phone:8608758280000445]] (5:]] yrs., done 2 years ago). I did not have a problem with my weight at all from tamoxifen. I continued eating healthfully and exercising which I've done forever anyway! I was perimenopausal when I began treatment (almost 45 yrs old). When I was done with tamox, my periods started coming back stronger and I had weird weight issues. I lost almost 10 pounds (that I never gained while on tamo)! Then, I started gaining, I think I was going through menopause for real finally! My body got all confused by the tamoxifen. So, guess what, I'm now 9 pounds heavier than I was before cancer treatment. So, I'd say overwhelmingly, yes, menopause makes you gain weight. I'm struggling to get the weight off and am on a new "kick" this week. I used to do cardio one day and weights the next (6 days a week). But now I'm doing 3 miles everyday (walking and jogging, various) and doing weights 4 days a week. It's the same amount of miles but daily. I'm not sure but I think my belly feels lighter. Not looking at the scale yet! Exercise definitely helps the joints! I used to love exercise but now, alas, it's like a prescription!!

I can relate to you ladies. I'm 39 & I've always been skinny, but now due to the menopause, steroids, inactivity during chemo, I have lost my muscle tone, my weight redistributed so even though I've only gained a few pounds ( which is a lot for me, I can't fit into any of my clothes the same way. I am so jiggly & my cellulite is plentiful! I've never eaten as healthy as I do now, but it doesn't seem to matter. BC negatively impacts so many aspects of our lives! Grrrrrrr....

It's the steroids that make you gain. I was getting Neupogen shots after every chemo and I gained 22 lbs. just like that. I was shocked how fast I gained and I was hungry all the time. I started losing some weight a month after chemo.
