Follow up PET scan was done as well as bone scan on me at about two year point when I had rib pain. If your cancer was invasive it doesn't matter if your nodes were clear. It could travel anywhere. You have nodes all around your breast and chest wall. Not just under arm pit. My rib pain was never diagnosed. Five years now and I still have it. Weird. But at least they check, and I have annual breast MRI since I only had one breast removed.

Ask for a PET Scan. It will show if there is cancer anywhere else in the body. My lymph nodes were clear and I had a double mastectomy so didn't need to worry about clear margins but the scan showed a tumor in the abdomen we never suspected.

They said my sentinel nodes were clear. My surgeon said it just didn't feel right so she took out 14 more modes and one was positive. If she had not been so intuitive I would be dead. Question those test ladies!

They will watch you close, I am going on 5 years, so many appts.

I had a BMX and a clear sentinel node, stage 1, so they are opting to be conservative. I trust my German friend and if he feels that they need to be more aggressive here, he will let me know. His biggest concern is that they won't do thorough physical exams of my chest since they aren't used to dealing with us flatties and rely so heavily on technology to assist in diagnoses.
