Steroids during chemo, on tamoxifen... I have gained about 30 pounds. Some of it is over eating from depression.. now having a really hard time getting the weight off. I am on year two of the tamoxifen... Any suggestions?

Estrogen grows in fat - and you're taking Tamoxifen to reduce the estrogen. So the leaner you can be, the better. That way, your medication can do its best.

Cut dairy products and white foods. Replace them with fruit, chocolate and red wine for "treats" to help with the depression. Seriously - this diet will work. It will take about two weeks for your body to get used to it and not crave carbs so much, but then you'll feel wonderful.

I put on 30 pounds too- drop 10 after I cut out sugar and I can't seem to lose anymore either. I don't eat anything white no bread no white potatoes no white rice. Dairy is very limited - no beef, my main protein is an egg or two during the day. Lots of greens and fruits and nuts. Very frustrating to have people say that we need to work harder when were exhausted from the drugs that they've been putting us on all this time, and our bodies reacting to everything negatively so that it's not processing the way it should. Some days I just want to give up

Steroids added a lot of weight for me. I'll show you the insensitively of "family"...my Godson who I hadn't seen in years, saw me at a family wedding while I was just finishing my treatments and still on steroids. Rather than saying something like, you look good (even if it wasn't true), or something positive, he instead said, "damn, you got fat". I wish I were adopted!
