My face started to break out during my Taxol treatments and I've been done with chemo for about four weeks now and my face is still broke out. My cheeks are quite red and I have all these red bumps on my face below my eyes, nothing on the forehead, which I find strange. They are just red bumps, not pimples, and sometimes they itch. My dr doesn't have a clue and right now he's just asking me to put hydrocortizone on my face. It has helped a little, but some still remain.
I did and the doc gave me cream
I have a patch of pimples on my cheek, I've had it since a/c chemo. Seemed to get worse on taxol but once they cut my steriods in half, the pimples got better. They are still pretty bad considering I've never had acne in my entire life, so it's frustrating. I'm convinced it's directly due to the steroids. Mine are definitely pimples, I can pop them at times. By the end of the day the whole area is dry and patchy and looks like eczema. Just one more thing that is annoying. Not shingles for me, that was the first thing the Dr was concerned about but there's no pain or itching, just acne.
@AndreBeth My husband's cousin's wife got shingles really bad during cancer treatment...the shingles were primarily in her ears and eyes...she was in a hospital several times and has residual side effects of blurry vision and ringing in her ears. Because of her experience with the shingles, as soon as I could get the Zovirax shot and have it covered by my insurance, my husband and I got the shot.
I got Shingles because the Taxol tanked my immune system so bad. I also did start having little red, itchy, bumps on my fingers. My doctor put me on Zovirax ointment for the Shingles and told me to try it on the bumps too. You might want to ask your doctor about treating with Zovirax.
