Has anyone been unhappy with the implants after expansion/reconstructive surgery? My implants feel nice but they are a bit flattened in certain areas. My plastic surgeon wants me to wait before I have a revision but I just want to get it done and over with so that I can do the final phase of reconstruction. How long does it take for implants to drop anyway?
@Texas Teacher, rock it girl! I am happy with my new "girls" also. They aren't perfect, I have the usual scarring & no sensation in the nipple areas, but at least I have them back and my life too. Stage iv can really suck, but I have been blessed to still be alive today. Diagnosed in 2008, two rounds of chemo, constantly on hormone pills, but still very much alive and happy. My hubby did not care if I had reconstruction or not as long as he still had me. We have been married 27 years, and today I celebrate my 52nd birthday...Life is good. Many blessings to everyone going through any stage of breast cancer. You can and will get stronger.....
I am past perfect looking breasts obviously. After nursing 4 kids that was impossible. I will say that the sexual effects are devestating both to me and to my husband. Most women don't talk about it. Your hair grows back but a breast never grows back. It is a huge loss. Anyone else feel this way?
My Guy assured me that he loved me no matter what I looked like;he s kind caring and intelligent. He helped with my recovery,my bandages etc. But the intimate time came around and I felt ugly and ashamed but did positive self talk.We were into the moment and he looked at my chest and lost his erection. I tried not to notice it. The next day I found an old black lace teddy; I hemmed it to be a short camousal with little black ribbons and poofy lace;sort of a flat lacy skimpy bra.It hid my deformities, but most of all I felt so pretty again.Problem solved at this point of our journey anyway. I feel like a proud woman again. @A MyBCTeam Member RN
@A MyBCTeam Member - I am delighted with my reconstructed breasts (diep flap) and the tummy tuck that comes with it. My husband and I both agreed that bilateral mastectomy was the way to go even though I only had LCIS in one breast. We did not want to live with that threat hanging over us. If anything, our sex life is hotter than ever . . . seriously! My breasts and flat abdomen are like those of an 18 year old.
@A MyBCTeam Member - I look at it as what's your breasts compared to your life? I'm just thankful to have both. God has been good to me. I'm way past looking for perfection.
