Who has returned to work after cancer treatment?

Who has returned to work after cancer treatment?

I am ready to return to work. I have had a stage 4 breast cancer reoccurance. My first bout with cancer I worked through half the treatments. This time I was able to take long term disability. I am going to wait till my next exam before returning. I want to have good news. When and who should I talk to to coordinate my return? How much information is appropriate to give them regarding my condition?

Is 10 days adequate time to recover from bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction(expanders)? My breast surgeon says I should be able to return to work on day 11.

Absolutely depends on one’s job,as well as extent of surgery. Fatigue may be a factor for months. Important to pace oneself

Is it realistic to return to work full time shortly after beginning chemo?

Is it realistic to return to work full time shortly after beginning chemo?

I will be starting chemotherapy (AC) soon approx. 8 weeks post mastectomy. I would like to return to work full time asap, but so far when I bring that up around the Dr./Nurses they look at me like I'm crazy! I'd like to hear about other's experiences with chemo and working full time.

Back to work?

Back to work?

Hi ladies. I'm scheduled for my BMX with immediate reconstruction tomorrow. I was wondering (I know everyone is different) how long before you felt up to going back to work? I'm scheduled to take 4 weeks off, but wondering if it's even feasible to return sooner.

How do you balance work, family and weekly Taxol treatments?

How do you balance work, family and weekly Taxol treatments?

I have been out of work since by bilateral mastectomy on 12/16 but am scheduled to return to work with a reduced schedule (27 hrs per week) in two weeks. Are you working while going through weekly Taxol treatments? How do you balance the side effects and work? How quickly after the treatment do you experience the side effects? Do the side effects impact your ability to work?

I have four more weekly Taxol treatments left. Does anyone know how long it takes to get your normal sense of tastes back once done?

I have four more weekly Taxol treatments left. Does anyone know how long it takes to get your normal sense of tastes back once done?

About a month and a half after starting chemo, my sense of taste started to change. I know this is normal and quite common, but I will be so glad when it returns to normal. Does anyone know how long it takes to return to normal once your chemo is complete?

Can I avoid being forced to work full time?

Can I avoid being forced to work full time?

I am lucky enough to to have recovered from breast cancer (lumpectomy, clear nodes and radiotherapy) at the end of 2014.
I returned to working as a teacher choosing to go part time for this academic year. Three days a week is perfect as I'm having side effects from Tamoxifen.
However I've now been told I must return full time from August if I'm to keep my job as they're such a shortage of teachers in our Local Authority. I don't think I could manage full time. I also… read more

I work around people that may have colds, flu, and some of them have other illnesses. I don't know if I should go back to work after starting my chemo. Has anyone returned back to work in a nursing home when on chemo?
