Nausea Acid Reflux

Nausea Acid Reflux

I had my 3 round of chemo on Friday. I am struggling the week after with food/hydration. The 1st time every thing was metallic tasting. The past 2 times every thing is sweet, but not in a good way. Water makes the acid reflux worse, and so does food. Wondering if anyone else found something helpful?

So sorry you're experiencing this. When I had acid reflux, I used Omeprazole. It's a prescription medication but it really does work.
When my taste buds didn't treat me so well I just made my food as bland as I possible could. No extra seasoning just salt and pepper. I couldn't even eat Miracle Whip. Regular mayo did the trick for me.
When food didn't work I used Premier shakes. It comes in different flavors. Chocolate, strawberry vanilla, peach, caramel, banana and maybe a few others. You can drink it straight from the carton or put it in the blender with fruit. Hope this helps.

Use plastic fork. The medal utensils make food taste like metallic.

Ask for a dietitian consult. They are full of great ideas. Also, ask you doctor if you would benefit from extra IV fluids.
Hang in there!

I liked eating with bamboo utensils, seemed to help with the taste of things. Flavored drops for the water allowed me to change up the taste but I could adjust the amount to what tasted right to me.Small meals, nothing greasy. I was a fan of grilled cheese sandwiches and soup, or mac and cheese. Keep experimenting- you will find what works for you! Hugs!

Omeprazole did wonders for me! They switched it to meloxicam because it is better for long term use. I also take misoprostol. Talk to your oncology office. They can prescribe something to help. Hugs!
