The chemo treatments shrunk my tumor by 40-50%, I’m devestated because people kept telling me that the cancer will be gone after chemo, and clearly it’s not!
@A MyBCTeam Member as far as I know some dr’s do chemo before surgery to shrink tumors but I don’t think it actually makes them completely go away. I would think you would need surgery for that.
MollyBella is right; My chemo treatment shrunk my tumor, but it did not make it go away completely. I had that same impression, which is why I was a tad shocked when I needed a lumpectomy after.
@A MyBCTeam Member: I'm not sure who told you that your cancer would for sure be gone after chemo, but they should not have said that, because that's not a 100% certainty. I had a mastectomy with 6 lymph nodes removed, and 3 were positive. After 16 weeks of chemo I went in and had 9 more lymph nodes removed - 2 were still positive. That's the reason chemo is typically done in conjunction with other things - surgery, radiation, etc.
Here's the good news - it shrunk 50%! It's not the news you were hoping for, but shrinking by 50% is still better than no change, or worse, growth! I know the process is arduous and frustrating, but stay the course, lovely one. You can and WILL slay this stubborn beast once and for all! 💖
Sending great big unicorn hugs your way 🦄💖
I didnt see my doctor on my last chemo infusion, I wont see her untill Nov..and my doctor who did my ultrasound said he thought it would’ve shrunk more.
